Mamba Negra

PISTA EM CHAMAS

Around 2010, a new kind of party began to appear in São Paulo: self-organised,
self-financed and inclusive. São Paulo's underground electronic scene is something completely unique.

In 2013 Carolina Schutzer, also known as „DJ Cashu“, and Laura Diaz established one of the most iconic parties within this scene – a party in their own image: a naughty,
venomous snake. The aim was not only to create a safe space where women and LGBTQ people could party, but also where they can become protagonists who are recognised for their work.
Nowadays the Mamba Negra finds itself right in the centre of São Paulo’s underground club culture. On the weekend of the 27th of May, I took the chance and traveled to São Paulo to dive into this special event, that celebrated one decade of its own emergence.

Big thanks to the openminded organisers and community, that embraced me with love and curiosity while making this little series of my personal insight possible.
